Revise your book

Coaching for taking your completed draft to the next level

You’ve written a book!

Congratulations! You persevered to get that story out of your head and onto the page, and that’s worth celebrating.

But you have a feeling, or you’ve been told, that your manuscript (or book proposal, for nonfiction) isn’t quite ready for prime time.

That’s normal. It often takes many rounds of major editing before your book successfully conveys the story, ideas, and experience you envision.

Enter the revision process. This is where you make the big changes your book needs to reach readers.

But where to start? Revising a book can be overwhelming. Working with a coach to plan and execute your revision can help you prioritize what changes to make and not get lost in the process.

  • “I came to Katelin because my book had a lot of information without a logical structure. There were many chapters, but no clear way to organize them. I was stuck. The process Katelin used helped me think in terms of building ideas from one chapter to another. She proposed a few ways to organize the content, and one was perfect. I could tell from her notes on my outline that she had taken much time to get to know my book and provide useful feedback. I highly recommend her to authors who need an outside perspective to move forward with their book.”

    — Colleen Orchanian

  • “Katelin's kind and compassionate feedback helped me clarify my outline as I tackled a large rewrite of my book. Her guidance, feedback, and gentle prodding to dig deeper made my manuscript stronger and my revision much more manageable to execute. When I came to Katelin, I was intimidated about the revision ahead, but after our work together I felt empowered and excited to finish.”

    — Monica Cox

  • “Working with Katelin was incredibly beneficial in helping me to improve my novels. Thanks to her, I have a better understanding about what is working with my book and what isn't. Her feedback was well thought out, thorough, and easy to understand and implement. Katelin's biggest strength, though, is that she cares about your project just as much as you do.”

    — Michael Mood

  • "Working with Katelin helped me wrap my mind around what I am trying to accomplish, and motivated me to make my book the best it can be. Her manuscript evaluation not only identified the problem areas mentioned by my beta readers (and more!), but clearly articulated why they weren't working and what I could do to improve them. As a writer herself, Katelin understands the challenge of crafting a well-written story, and her calm and encouraging style made even big problems easier to swallow. She also shared what was working well, and gave tips to make my writing even stronger. She helped me believe I have a story worth telling."

    — Nancy Bechel

  • “Katelin can see things that I can’t see. She has a gift for pointing out organizational improvements with an encouraging yet direct manner. She has helped me take my raw material and shape it into a book proposal! With her guidance, I am confident that I can complete my book!”

    — Meleah Ashford

  • "Katelin’s thoughtful critiques and encouragement challenged me to bring more coherence to my thoughts and the right intervals between stories and insights. Her enthusiastic encouragement also showed me which parts of the book were working particularly well. I would never do another book without having her on my team."

    — Jason Simon

  • “I was amazed at how well Katelin understood the purpose of my story (my first attempt at writing fiction), and how perfectly her suggestions helped me improve the story while retaining my own writing style.”

    — Kent C.
